The two I have owned were the 114mm F/8 and the 125 F/8 Cometron Jr which was a Vixen made Short tube Newtonian. The original Celestron Cometron's were entry level scopes that were not particularly well suited for viewing comets. Focuser housing is plastic, as well as OTA. The Star Blast is much more in line with the original Cometron spirit. Real nice solid oak tripod with horizontal & vertical positioning that moves very slowly and holds position when stopped. FirstScope is also stylish enough to be a decorative fixture on your bookshelf or desk.
